Air quality and cosmetics
Although you probably don't think about it when you're getting ready, it does have a negative impact on the air quality in your home. Your favourite cosmetics contain VOCs, or volatile organic compounds. These chemicals have a strong smell and evaporate easily at room temperature, making the air unhealthy to breathe.
Fragrances
Although some cosmetics give off a pleasant fragrance, it is not exactly healthy to breathe it in.
Chemicals
Chemicals are chemicals found in many of our everyday products; think of cosmetics like perfume or deodorant, scented candles and cleaning products.
Headache
When the air in a room is not sufficiently refreshed, CO2 and water vapour from our breathing (as well as pollution sources) increase. This lowers oxygen levels, which causes headaches. In addition, many everyday products contain chemicals that contribute to this.
Airways
When pollution sources are inhaled, they can irritate the airways, causing difficult breathing and/or irritation of the cavities and trachea.
